Dinah Shore Palm Springs Estate

Mid-century/desert modern houses

Designed for singer, actress and television personality Dinah Shore by noted modernist architect Donald Wexler in 1964, this Old Las Palmas home may not reveal much from the street, but behind its discrete facade the 1.3 acre property defines timeless mid-century modern design, even today (especially today!).

Walls of expansive floor to ceiling glass embrace its environment melding the indoors and out, while Wexler’s use of natural materials like stone and wood give the low slung linear structure its warm, desert-modernist vibe.

Broadway composer & lyricist, Jerry Herman (Hello, Dolly! La Cage aux Folles) also called 432 Hermosa Place home, and now when its current owner, movie star Leonardo DiCaprio, isn’t using it as his private desert retreat, he rents it out as a vacation home for those willing to splurge.
