West Coast Modern Week returns this summer, July 8 – 13

By Ken MacIntyre

May 9, 2025 (West Vancouver) – This summer step inside some of the West Coast’s most iconic spaces and experience a weeklong celebration of architecture, design and community. West Coast Modern Week returns to West Vancouver from July 8 – 13, 2025, inviting architecture lovers, design enthusiasts and curious minds alike to explore the beauty and significance of this beloved architectural style; West Coast Modernism.

West Vancouver has long served as a living gallery for West Coast Modernism, a movement that took root in the 1950s when visionary architects – inspired by the region’s rugged beauty – crafted unforgettable homes and commercial spaces. Defined by clean lines, natural materials and an effortless integration with the landscape, these properties coexist with towering evergreens, rugged mountains and sweeping ocean views.

Some of the homes to be showcased during this summer’s popular West Coast Modern Home Tour were designed by mid-century pioneers CBK Van Norman, Fred Hollingsworth, Arthur Erickson and more, while contemporary innovators continuing the tradition, such as pre-eminent Canadian architect John Patkau, will also be featured during the week’s programming.

West Vancouver remains at the forefront of this irresistible design aesthetic and has fostered one of the highest concentrations of West Coast Modern residences in North America, some of which will be open to the public for the first time.
