Walking Tours

Mid-century modern tours

There are multiple tours and tour operators in Palm Springs, most of whom offer walks around neighborhoods featuring mid-century modern architecture. For our money the Palm Springs Historical Society is the most comprehensive and they have 7 different tours to choose from!

If you want to learn about movie stars’ homes, there’s a tour for that. If you’re an architecture buff, they offer a Starchitects tour which is also sure to please.

Plus, you can visit their small museum at The Village Green downtown for a glimpse at some pretty nifty mid-century artifacts.

The Historical Society also has space at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library where you can view even more mid-century artifacts and exhibits.

Additional walking tour operators include Palm Springs Walking Tours, who provide strolls around the downtown core only – they’re pretty comprehensive and knowledgable though – and Modernism Week, of course, which offers a varied selection of fun mid-century walks but is only available twice a year; during their fall preview in Mid-October and in mid-February when Modernism Week is in full swing.
