For fans of Polynesian Pop, stepping into an authentic Tiki bar is like riding a time machine back to the 1950s or 60s, and although there’s little trace left of the Stardust Hotel & Casino’s famous Aku Aku  Polynesian-themed restaurant & cocktail lounge (or any other vintage  Vegas Tiki bar for that matter), there are fortunately two really great retro-themed hang-outs you can try.

Frankie’s Tiki Room (1712 W. Charleston Blvd.) – Occupying the same space which was once home to the 1950s staple Frankie’s Bar, this colorful watering hole was re-imagined by acclaimed designer Bamboo Ben in 2008 and boasts original island-themed art and rum-soaked tropical drinks for only $9 bucks a pop. They’ll even throw in a collectible souvenir Tiki mug for a few dollars more. Located just west of the I-15 on the north side of W. Charleston Blvd., and open 24 hrs/day.

The Golden Tiki (3939 Spring Mountain Rd.) – This South Seas themed bar opened in the summer of 2015 and has been transporting guests out of its Chinatown strip mall location back in time to a Pirates of the Caribbean-like post war cocktail lounge where Mai Tais rule and Dole Whip machines are de rigueur! Open 24 hrs a day and located west of the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino, just a few blocks past the I-15.
