Palm Springs Modern Tours

Mid-century modern tours

UPDATE, November, 2017: Robert Imber has retired this tour but promises something new later in 2018, we will keep you posted!

To say Robert Imber is passionate about mid-century modern architecture would be a bit of an understatement. He’s an advocate for architectural preservation, he’s a founding member of the Palm Springs Modern Committee, and he executive produced the documentary film Desert Utopia: Mid-Century Architecture in Palm Springs.

So, who else would you want to lead the Palm Springs Modern Tour?

For over 15 years Imber has been taking visitors of all kinds across town in his 6 seater van, revealing mid-mod treasures around every corner. He also tells stories. Lots of stories … about the Coachella Valley’s modernist architects, designers, builders and even its famous residents. In fact, he extols so much information during his 3 hour drive that you may want to do it again!

It’s a great tour to take at the beginning of your visit if you want to get your mid-century modern bearings established. Most tours begin at the Palm Springs Visitors Center, check Imber’s website for more details.

The photos above represent examples of what you might see on this tour.
