Tiki Bars

Tiki Culture/Polynesian Pop

If you’re a Tikiphile and looking to get your Polynesian Pop on, Vancouver has a couple of options…

The Shameful Tiki Room (4362 Main Street ) – Situated in the heart of eclectic Main Street where you could easily do some vintage shopping before dropping in for a tropical cocktail or pupus, this lively yet intimate place is relatively new but evokes 1950s & 60s Polynesian pop culture like nowhere else in the city. Like Don the Beachcomber or Trader Vic’s of days gone by, these guys boast unique Tiki carvings, authentic blow fish lamps, exotica music to set the mood, and of course, delicious cocktails & unique collectible Tiki mugs!

The Tiki Bar at The Waldorf (1489 East Hastings Street ) – Located near the wonderfully bohemian Commercial Drive inside the historic Waldorf Hotel, this bar has reinvented itself many times over the years and recently returned to its late 1940s roots. With its plaster palm trees, bamboo patterned walls and Polynesian murals, The Tiki Bar looks authentic again but is now a multi-venue complex where you can hear the latest urban beats or see a band perform… while enjoying your favourite island-style cocktail of course.
